Coal Ridge High School student performed as part of the All State Jazz Choir!
Last weekend, Alexis Bahena performed as part of the prestigious All State Jazz Choir. All State performing groups are made up of students from the entire state of Colorado. To be a member in one of the All State Jazz Choirs, students must place in the top 48 scores overall, and those 48 students will then be divided into 3 different jazz choirs with 16 members each.
Alexis went through a rigorous audition process including 3 stages of elimination to place into the elite All State Mixed Jazz Choir. The All State Mixed Jazz Choir sings in primarily 8 part vocal splits compared to most advanced choirs that sing in 4-6 part splits (wow!) Alexis was also selected as the featured soloist for the entire chart, "I Want You Back", which was backed up with the rest of the All State Mixed Jazz Choir and a professional Jazz Band.
"Participating in the Colorado All-State Jazz Choir was an honor that provided me valuable insights into vocal performance and the world of music. Upon learning that I was selected as a featured soloist for the concert, I felt a mix of both nervousness and immense gratitude. Although this opportunity required stepping out of my comfort zone, it turned out to be a defining experience for me. It fueled my passion to explore new musical opportunities and to continue pushing myself as a vocalist."
Congratulations Alexis!!!
