Garfield Re-2 announces Assistant Superintendent

The Garfield Re-2 School District is pleased to announce that Jenny Nipper will be the new Assistant Superintendent for the 2025-26 school year. The appointment is pending board approval at the May 28, 2025 School Board meeting.

Mrs. Nipper is currently the Principal of Rifle Middle School in Rifle, CO.  Nipper began her career in the Garfield Re-2 School District as a substitute teacher. She grew her skills, becoming a math and science teacher at Rifle Middle School and Riverside Middle School before being named Assistant Principal at Rifle Middle School. In 2017, Nipper was named Principal. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Cincinnati Bible College and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.

“I am looking forward to the future of our district,” said Mrs. Nipper. “Three years ago, we embarked on our strategic plan, and we have worked hard at it. It’s not perfect, but it is guiding us, and things are happening that are good for kids and for our community.”

Drawing on more than two decades of experience in the district, Nipper says her decision to apply for the role was driven by a desire to make a difference.

“I want to be a part of the conversation about the future,” she explained.  “I love this district, this community, and our families. I want to use the skills I have for the longest amount of time in Garfield Re-2 to do the most amount of good that I can.”

Incoming Garfield Re-2 Superintendent Kirk Banghart said Mrs. Nipper is a great fit for the Assistant Superintendent position.

“We had many highly qualified candidates who applied for this position. I am ecstatic to welcome a long-time Garfield Re-2 resident and experienced leader to our district’s executive team. Jenny brings not only a deep understanding of our community, but also a tireless commitment to learning and growth that aligns with our mission and strategic plan.”

Applicants were interviewed by a committee of parents, teachers, and administrators. Community members were able to share feedback at a meet-and-greet as well. Nipper will take over for Lisa Pierce, who is retiring after five years as Garfield Re-2 Assistant Superintendent.

“Lisa Pierce is a phenomenal leader, and she will be greatly missed,” added Banghart.

Mrs. Nipper will begin her transition once the school year ends and will be able to spend time with Ms. Pierce to gain a deeper understanding of the position.
