Garfield Re-2 begins move to ParentSquare for family communication
The Garfield Re-2 School District is excited to announce that we have adopted a new form of school-to-home communication called ParentSquare. This unified communications platform is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with our teachers, coaches, and the District.
Beginning in January, several schools will pilot this platform before all schools make the transition for the 2025-26 school year. In addition, spring athletic coaches will be using ParentSquare as their communication platform with students and families. Other teachers can choose to begin using the platform if they wish.
We are making this move so that beginning in the 2025-26 school year, parents have just one platform to keep track of all of their children’s activities, classroom, school, and district news, and have consistent data security.
ParentSquare will provide a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to:
- Send and receive school and class information
- Share pictures and files
- See calendar items
- Sign up to volunteer
- Schedule parent-teacher conferences
and much more . . . all in one centralized place!
The decision to select ParentSquare was made after an extensive evaluation of six different platforms that could support K-12 communication with families. A team of teachers, classified staff, and administrators reviewed presentations from these companies and recommended ParentSquare as the platform to move forward. The Garfield Re-2 School Board approved this recommendation in November.
We wanted to let our families know about this gradual transition to ParentSquare, even if your school is not adopting it as a platform this winter. You may begin to see test messages from Garfield Re-2 School District as we review the contact information that ParentSquare needs for communication purposes.
Additional information will be coming in January. We are excited about this transition and believe it will be a valuable tool for our teachers, school administrators and our families to stay connected to your child’s progress and the activities at your school.
