Garfield Re-2 Board Celebrates Outgoing Board President

The Garfield Re-2 School Board celebrated outgoing Board President Britton Fletchall at their June 25, 2025 school board meeting and declared a vacancy in Director District A.

Fletchall submitted a letter of resignation on June 18 and shared that his decision is rooted in the growth of his business, which now requires more travel and extended time away from the area.

“Serving has never been a burden, but a true motivator,” he explained. “While I value the ability to participate remotely, I believe this level of board service is most effective when done in person.”

During his tenure, he made a significant impact on his boardmates.

“I cannot disregard all of the good things that this board, with Britton's help, have achieved while Britton was being called away with this business. His duties as a board president were never neglected, and his dedication to Re-2 and to our strategic plan never wavered,” said Board Vice President Fathom Jensen.

“I truly don't believe there is a better choice to lead this district through this last year,” added Board Treasurer Chance Jenkins. “Thank you for your tireless devotion to the position. Your calm demeanor and thoughtful conversations will be missed.”

Vice President Jensen added that she is looking forward to seeing who will answer the call to fill the big shoes left by Fletchall.

“I look forward to seeing who is willing to step up for District A, help us continue to grow and develop our strategic plan, and to take Garfield Re-2 to where we know it can go.”

Per Board Policy, the vacancy must be filled within 60 days. Individuals interested in filling the vacancy must live within the boundaries of Director District A, be a registered voter as shown on the books of the county clerk and recorder for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the appointment, be 18 years or older, and be a citizen of the United States. They should submit a letter of interest to the Garfield Re-2 School District no later than noon on August 4 to: Sharon Donohoue, District A vacancy, 839 Whiteriver Ave., Rifle, CO 81650. For more information, contact Sharon Donohoue at the Garfield Re-2 District Office at 665-7600.

The District A seat must face election in the November 2025 election.
