Garfield Re-2 Board President Britton Fletchall Resigns After Years of Dedicated Service

RIFLE – With deep gratitude for his service and leadership, the Garfield Re-2 School District announces the resignation of School Board President Britton Fletchall, effective immediately. Fletchall submitted his letter of resignation on Thursday, June 19, 2025, after nearly four years of service to the students, staff, and families of Garfield Re-2.

Elected to represent Director District A in 2021, Fletchall stepped into the role of Board President during a mid-year reorganization on December 13, 2023. Throughout his tenure, he brought a steady hand and a community-centered approach to the board table, helping guide the district through pivotal moments, including the recent Superintendent search that concluded with the hiring of incoming Superintendent Kirk Banghart.

“After much consideration, I am submitting my resignation from the Garfield Re-2 School Board, effective immediately. It has been a privilege and honor to serve this district and represent our community,” wrote Fletchall.

Fletchall shared that his decision is rooted in the growth of his business, which now requires more travel and extended time away from the area.

“Serving has never been a burden, but a true motivator,” he explained. “While I value the ability to participate remotely, I believe this level of board service is most effective when done in person.”

Throughout his service, Fletchall was a passionate advocate for the Garfield Re-2 Strategic Plan, increased staff compensation, and parental rights. His leadership reflected his commitment to finding common ground, making thoughtful decisions, and supporting what’s best for kids.

“Britton has led Garfield Re-2 with consistency,” said Superintendent Heather Grumley. “He brought integrity, intention, and heart to every conversation and every challenge. He never wavered from his commitment to our strategic plan and to making a real difference in this community. His presence and perspective will be deeply missed.”

In his parting message, Fletchall expressed optimism for the future.

“I leave my seat during a transition period with confidence in our leadership team, in the board’s ability to navigate differing views constructively, and in the continued execution of our strategic plan. Garfield Re-2 is in capable hands with Superintendent Banghart, Assistant Superintendent Nipper, and a staff of committed professionals,” he concluded.

At the June 25, 2025, meeting, the School Board will consider a resolution to officially declare a vacancy in the District A seat. The resolution will outline the timeline and process for selecting a new board member. According to Board Policy, the vacancy must be filled within 60 days.
