Earlier last month, Garfield Re-2 School Counselors Michelle Zinser (CRHS), Lauren Espinoza (RIV), Brenda Murphy (ECE), Amy Chabin (CVE), Kasey Nipsel (GME) and Jennifer Brandow (RHS) attended the 61st Annual Colorado School Counselor Association Conference in Keystone.
The 61st Annual CSCA Conference offered workshops that school counselors from all over the state of Colorado participated in. The workshops varied from social-emotional learning and classroom strategies to concussion awareness and latest research findings. The keynote speaker was Nicolas Epley and his topic focused on why we misunderstand what others think and feel.
The greatest benefit is the three days worth of networking opportunities that allow counselors from all over the state to connect, share ideas and continue to advocate for our profession. CEU credits are also available, which might benefit some with movement on the salary table.
Guided by the information they learn from the workshops, the counselors then bring their knowledge back to our buildings to support students academically, socially and emotionally.
