Time Spent Testing

Students working in the computer lab

We know that parents, staff, students, and our community are concerned that students are assessing too much.

When looking at the hours of testing compared to the amount of time students spend in school, one finds that students spend at most an average of 2% of their time in testing. The time is often less for those that are native English speakers because these students do not take the ACCESS.

These percentages include the time students spend taking DIBELS Next, iReady, NWEA MAPs, CMAS, PSAT/SAT, and ACCESS.  They do not include classroom assessments that teachers give.

The hours of attendance are calculated on a 7.5 hour school day for 149 school days in a school year.
