Child Find

Child Find is a system in Colorado to refer children suspected of having a delay in development as early as possible. If a young child is not yet meeting typical developmental milestones, or someone is concerned about the child’s growth or learning, a referral can be made to Child Find.
Through the Child Find process we work with families about the concern(s) with a focus on meeting the child’s needs. Steps may include collecting information from families, conducting developmental screenings, and/or completing an evaluation.

In Garfield Re-2, we make sure that young learners having difficulties or delays in development get the help they need to be successful in school.
- Academic (early learning/concepts, thinking, problem-solving, preschool access skills)
- Communication (articulation, language, fluency and voice)
- Motor (fine and gross)
- Social/emotional
- Self-help; and/or
- Hearing and vision
Children can be referred to Child Find by a parent, doctor or other agency. The process may begin with a developmental screening and when appropriate, a comprehensive multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility for preschool through special education.
Child Find is available to families at no cost. To make a referral email childfind@garfieldre2.net.
