IMPORTANT BUS SAFETY INFORMATION

As we are approaching the beginning of school, we would like to ask all parents and/or guardians that have children that will be riding a bus year, to please,  go over these rules and guidelines with your children.  ALL STUDENTS will be expected to follow these rules/guidelines.   We hope that you have all had an incredible summer and look forward to seeing all of the students again!     If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Transportation Garage at (970)665-7630.

ZONAR CARDS

Why are the cards important? – In case of an accident it allows us to have a list of who is on the bus to give to the police, ambulance and fire departments and make contact with correct parents. A small wire runs through the card so if they get bent or cut they stop working and you have to purchase another one. Once cards are received they are mandatory. 
Pass Replacement Cost - (1ST REPLACEMENT $5, $10 AFTER).

The bus is for Home to School and School to Home ONLY!!! In case of an EMERGENCY parents can call transportation at 970-665-7630 to change delivery options, but riding to stops of others is not allowed for non-emergency cases. 

RULES OF THE BUS

REFER TO THE RULES POSTED ON YOUR BUS and ATTACHED TO THIS SHEET.

SAFETY ITEMS

The driver will point out the fire extinguisher, emergency exits, first aid kit, etc and students will be shown how to pull the emergency brake in the event the driver is unable to!

CELL PHONES

NO PICTURES OR VIDEO RECORDING ALLOWED! 
Indecent activities with phones will result in banning device use on the bus. 

PICKUP AND DROPOFF

Arrive 5 minutes early the time listed is the bus DEPART TIME!

ALWAYS cross the street 10 feet in front of the bus watching the driver paddle. Always stop at the corner of the bus when crossing and look both ways to make sure traffic is clear before continuing across the street. (IF THE DRIVER HONKS, DIVE BACK OFF THE ROADWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN IMMEDIATELY!!!)
Always load and unload in an orderly fashion. 

The bus should ALWAYS stop a MINIMUM of 10 feet from students. Please stay back 10 feet from where the door should stop when waiting. Otherwise, the bus will have to stop farther back from where you are for your safety.

NEVER run toward or away from school bus!!!! EVEN if you are running late! There is no guarantee that the driver can see you and this is INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS!!!!

NEVER reach or go underneath the bus for any reason! If something is dropped or needs to be retrieved, please notify the driver so the driver can help you retrieve it!

ALWAYS exit the bus and either wait in a group to cross with your group on the drivers signal or proceed away from the bus IMMEDIATELY!!!! Drivers have to wait until you are away from the bus so that they can safely pull away.  

 

BUS RULES

•   Save Snacks/Drinks for LATER!
•   Remain SEATED and facing FORWARD at ALL times.
•   Keep Aisles CLEAR.
•   Use INSIDE voices at ALL times.
•   Follow directions the FIRST time they are given.
•   Keep ALL parts of your body and objects INSIDE the bus.
•   Keep Your hands and feet to YOURSELF.
•   NO foul language or actions.
•   NO drugs, tobacco, alcohol or weapons are allowed!   (this includes electronic smoking devices)
