Student attendance has a positive and significant effect on student performance. When students miss school, they miss interactions with friends, development of relationships, making memories, and most of all, valuable learning.

Our goal is to have 95% attendance rate for our students. We also know that we want our students to be healthy, and they should stay home if they are sick.

To support our families, we will be communicating with you frequently regarding the attendance of your child. When your child is absent, you will be contacted.  The new Garfield Re-2 Attendance Expectations and Garfield Re-2 Attendance Policy Outline are linked on this page.  These documents will help you know your obligations as a parent and the actions that our staff will be taking if your child is absent excessively. 

We care about each and every student in Garfield Re-2 School District. We want to be sure that we can help our families identify the root causes of absenteeism and support them in every way possible. When students are in person, in school, they benefit from collaboration and hands-on work with their peers and teachers.
