McKinney-Vento Homeless Education

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (Subtitle VII-B) is the main federal law that supports the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program. This law helps protect the rights of children and youth who are experiencing homelessness. It was renewed in December 2015 as part of Title IX, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).

Students in Foster Care

K-12 students who are in and out-of-home placement and receiving education services during an academic term. 

Justice-Engaged Students

K-12 students who are involved in any capacity with the juvenile or criminal justice system.
