Board Update - November 12 School Board Meeting - Chance Jenkins

Our board convened on Wednesday evening at Graham Mesa Elementary for an engaging session centered on progress and future opportunities. We had the opportunity to learn about the notable improvements and accomplishments at the school thus far this year, including enhanced student engagement initiatives and innovative instructional approaches. The dedication of our staff is evident, and we are eager to see what lies ahead for the educators and students at this exemplary building.

We also received a presentation from the Collaborative Solutions committee, which detailed their scope of work for the year. They provided insights into their focus on the calendar and the upcoming compensation discussions that will commence shortly. These initiatives reflect our ongoing commitment to creating a supportive environment for our educators and staff.

We are pleased to welcome one new board member to our team and extend our sincere gratitude to Scott Bolitho for his dedicated service and contributions to the district. It has been a privilege to serve alongside Scott, and we wish him every success in his future endeavors.

Overall, we have experienced a strong start to the year under the capable leadership of Superintendent Kirk Banghart. His direction has established a positive foundation, and we are appreciative of the progress being made throughout the district.

Update on Transportation Collaboration with Two Rivers Community School (TRCS)
As a charter school authorized by the Roaring Fork School District (RE-1), TRCS offers valuable educational options for families, and we respect their contributions to our community. We are looking forward to engaging in discussions regarding transportation services, and hopeful that they will begin soon.

We remain committed to collaborating in good faith to ensure safe and lawful transportation for students while adhering to state law. At this time, the process rests with the TRCS governing board, and we patiently and eagerly await their response to achieve a mutually beneficial resolution.

We are here to support you and ensure that every child in Garfield Re-2 thrives.
Sincerely,

Chance Jenkins
