(Implementation Plan for Student Individual Career and Academic Plans)

In accordance with state law and the timeline prescribed by applicable State Board of Education rules (Rules), the district shall create a plan for the development and implementation of student individual career and academic plans (ICAP).

At a minimum, the district’s ICAP plan shall address:

  1. The district will ensure that all students, beginning in the 6th grade, have access to and assistance in the development of an ICAP.

  1. Starting in 6th grade, the district will help students create an account with the College in Colorado to assist them in their future ICAP planning. In grades 7-12, students will work with counselors and appropriate content area teachers to implement and update the ICAP. The district will publicize to parents the opportunity to follow their student's progress by linking to their child’s ICAP plan online.

  1. Starting in 6th grade, every student will create an account with the College in Colorado to begin working towards building an ICAP plan. In 7th grade, students will set post-secondary/workforce goals. The plan will be reviewed every year after 7th grade, and the ICAP plan will be adjusted as needed.

  1. Students will house their ICAP plan on the College in Colorado website.

  1. Counselors and appropriate content staff will receive training on how to manage the College in Colorado website and how to help students complete the ICAP.

  1. The district will evaluate its effectiveness in implementing the ICAP through ongoing counselor meetings, student surveys, and parent surveys.
